Job Description

THE ROLE

As our Finance & Administration Officer, you'll keep our financial engine running smoothly. This is a hands-on role where your attention to detail, initiative, and ability to work independently will directly support the organisation's ability to focus on what matters most: creating a kinder world for animals.

You will:

  • Process and manage accounts payable and receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end processes
  • Maintain accurate financial records, leave records, and the asset registry
  • Keep the office running - managing equipment, supplier relationships, travel coordination, and administration processes
  • Act as the go-to point of contact for day-to-day finance and payroll queries
  • Identify and support process improvements and surface operational risks proactively

Please refer to the position description on our Careers website for a full outline of the role.

Desired Skills and Experience

ABOUT YOU

You are a capable, self-directed finance and admin professional who is proactive and resourceful. You're someone who takes initiative, values guidance, and prides yourself on getting things done. You're comfortable working autonomously in a remote-first environment and take genuine pride in accuracy and process.

Our ideal person is:

  • Inspired by our vision and aligned with our values
  • Experienced in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g. Xero, MYOB, or similar)
  • Is organised, efficient, and able to balance competing priorities without needing ongoing direction
  • A clear communicator who can translate financial information for non-finance colleagues
  • Proactive, self-driven, and thrives in a fluid and dynamic environment

You'll stand out further if you also have:

  • Have experience in the not-for-profit, advocacy, or for-purpose sector
  • Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Familiarity with Power BI or similar reporting tools
